Thorough
We don't stop at what an automated scan reports. We dig until we understand how your application or device really behaves.
Obscure Testing is a penetration testing group. We test web applications, APIs, mobile apps, IoT devices and source code the way a real attacker would, then show you exactly what to fix.
Our testers have spent many years breaking into software and devices, with permission, so our clients can fix the problems first. We've done it for dozens of clients across a wide variety of industries, from young startups to established organizations.
We don't stop at what an automated scan reports. We dig until we understand how your application or device really behaves.
Every finding comes with plain-language impact, proof that it's real, and concrete steps to fix it.
Your systems, code and findings stay confidential. We handle what we learn with the same care we expect you to.
Four kinds of testing, each tailored to what you build and how it's used.
We test your website, web app and the APIs behind it, as an outsider and as a signed-in user, to find the ways in.
We read your code line by line, guided by automated analysis, to find security flaws at their source.
We test your iOS and Android apps on real devices, along with the servers they talk to.
We test connected devices from the circuit board to the cloud, the way someone holding one would.
Automated tools are fast, but they only see part of the picture. We combine three layers of testing to paint a complete picture of your application or device.
AI helps us map large applications and codebases quickly, spot unusual patterns and suggest places worth a closer look, so our time goes where it matters most.
Industry-standard scanners give us broad, consistent coverage of known weaknesses, misconfigurations and outdated components.
Experienced testers then explore by hand. We confirm every finding, weed out false alarms, chain small issues into real attacks, and find the logic flaws no tool can.
The result: broad coverage from automation, depth from human expertise, and no padding. Every issue in your report is one we've confirmed ourselves.
A report is only useful if it gets things fixed. Ours are customized to your application or device, your team and your goals, never a raw scanner export with your logo on it.
We're glad to walk your team through the findings and answer questions after the report is delivered.
We're a small group of curious people who enjoy figuring out how things break. We don't have open roles listed right now, but we're always glad to hear from skilled testers.
Send us a note about your experience and the kind of testing you enjoy. Choose "Careers" in the form below.
Get in TouchIt's a controlled, authorized attack on your application or device. We try to break in the way a real attacker would, so you can fix the weaknesses before anyone else finds them.
Scanners only catch known, surface-level problems, and they report many false alarms. We use them as a starting point, then test by hand to confirm what's real and to find the deeper issues, like flaws in how your application's rules work.
We plan testing with you to avoid disruption. We can test a staging copy instead of production, work during set hours, and steer clear of anything you mark as off limits.
It depends on the size and complexity of what we're testing. Most engagements take one to three weeks. Tell us about your project, and we'll give you a clear quote before any work begins.
Yes. Our reports are written to share with auditors and customers who ask for proof of independent security testing, and we can include a short summary letter for that purpose.
We're happy to sign a nondisclosure agreement. We share findings only with the people you choose and delete your materials when the engagement ends.
Tell us a little about what you'd like tested, and we'll get back to you by email to start the conversation.
We use what you send only to reply to you. Please don't include passwords or other secrets. See our Privacy Policy.
